I hope everyone is staying warm and getting excited for soccer! Although we’re just under seven months away, a lot of planning is taking place behind the scenes. Here is a look at what to expect for the 2025 season.
NEW STADIUM
Jefferson’s stadium should be completed at the end of summer. If unforeseen circumstances happen, the opening could be delayed into the first couple of weeks of our 2025 season. Everyone should be very excited about the new stadium! We’ll have lights, seating for 3000 fans, a concession stand, and a new sound system. For the field, we’re getting new turf put in place, so that will be a much better feel for us as we train. Right now, the first home game on our schedule is against Chanhassen on September 4th, but one of our earlier games could change to be at home if the stadium is ready earlier!
TRYOUTS
Tryouts start August 11th this year. Players will only be attending one session each day unless a. coach tells you otherwise. To account for this change, the sessions will be longer. This will give you plenty of time each day to demonstrate your skills and abilities. On the first day, 11th and 12th graders will report to the field by 9:15 AM so that we can begin training at 9:30 AM. 8th, 9th, and 10th graders will report at 2:15 PM so they can begin at 2:30 PM. Details for the tryouts are listed in the events and I’ll share additional information as we get closer.
TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES
Each team is going to have team building activities (minimum of one) during the year. This is separate from pasta dinners and will be up to the individual teams to determine. The goal of this is to develop a stronger bond between all players on the team.
TEAM MANAGERS
Each team is going to need a team manager, which is a parent volunteer. The team manager is responsible for helping with organizing pasta dinners, team building activities, and communicating with the team about schedules. This is going to be a requirement and will be determined by the end of the first week of the season.
PASTA DINNERS
Starting with the 2025 season, all levels will have pasta dinners! This is a friendly way for players to get together and build relationships away from the soccer field. We ask that families share the responsibility with this and work with the managers to plan them. Typically, pasta dinners are hosted the night before a home game.
NEW UNIFORMS
The whole program is getting new uniforms this year. The details will be revealed soon (once the final order is placed), but we’re ordering five new goalie kits, over 60 uniform sets, and more. All goalies in the program will be able to have a matching kit with unique numbers printed on them. All players on varsity, junior varsity, and B squad will have the same kit as well. This provides us with much more flexibility as a program not only for the team makeup, but also for shifting uniforms around as needed for best fit.
