Tom Szewczyk, Varsity Head Coach
Tom was born and raised in Enfield, Connecticut, before moving to Minnesota in 2009. From 2015-2016, he was the varsity head coach at Brooklyn Center High School. The team had a first-team all-state player in Emmanuel Togar and won their first section game in over five seasons when they defeated Hiawatha Academy 1-0. Tom then moved on to Chanhassen High School from 2017-2018, and had the privilege to coach the team to their first conference championship in over five years and their first ever section victories at the AA level – 2-1 win in OT versus Eden Prairie and a 0-0 (5-4 PKs) win over Edina. Between both programs, the emphasis has been building a community of belonging and relationships between all members of the program.
Outside of the High School season, Tom coaches at Bloomington United, where he has coached since 2016. In that time, Tom has coached numerous teams and has served many roles, including Director of Coaching and a member of the club’s Board. When he isn’t coaching, Tom spends time with his wife and kids, plays lots of board games, and enjoys playing and listening to music!
Max Champa, Assistant Varsity Coach
As a Jefferson High School grad and former player for the school, it was always the plan to. get into the coaching side of soccer. As soon as that journey began, I found it so rewarding to help players be the best versions of themselves on and off the field. Furthermore, seeing the same players season after season and how they develop is such a joy to watch and a huge reason why I continue to coach. I am ready to meet the guys and get to work with the Jefferson High School Soccer program.
